A Warm Welcome to You, Reader!

Hello! Whitney here. I wanted to give you a personalized thank you for all the support we’ve received over the last week as our instagram page expanded.  I love our close-knit community and am excited to have you here!  I talked to dips, EFMs, military families, NGO workers, international teachers, Americans working abroad, Americans interested in joining the FS, and just regular people interested in this lifestyle. 

SO many of you reached out sharing that you feel isolated or that people, including family, friends, and regular Americans, don’t understand your life abroad.  It warmed my heart because that’s how we felt in Nigeria where @diplomaticdestinations was born.

Sometimes it’s just nice to talk to someone who understands your day to day.  Someone who gets that it’s hard to live in dangerous places and it’s challenging to be an EFM.

It also feels good to help Americans who are interested in international affairs careers. I was there once too and conversations with international workers back then made all the difference.

Lastly, please know that all views on this page are exclusively my own.  This is a ***private & personal*** page and not an official resource.  There are lots of lovely official resources about employment and the diplomat life online: just google “foreign service careers.”
